A signed record that the consignee received the goods.
In practice
Usually a signed delivery note, a photo of the signed consignment note, or an electronic signature from the driver's device. Needed to close a job, invoice the customer, and defend against a shortage claim. In trucking and courier contexts POD nearly always means this rather than Port of Discharge.
