HC

Container types & equipment

High Cube container

A container one foot taller than standard, giving about 12% more volume.

In practice

9'6" high instead of 8'6". The 40'HC (about 76 CBM) is now the most common 40' equipment. Same THC and freight as a 40'GP on most trades. Check road height limits for overheight loads in some countries.

Seen in the wild

Cargo is 72 CBM so it needs a 40HC, not a 40GP.
