General Purpose container

A standard closed steel container with doors at one end, the most common type for dry cargo.

In practice

Also called a dry van (DV) or standard (SD). Comes in 20' (about 33 CBM, 28 tonne payload) and 40' (about 67 CBM). A 20'GP is the base unit for TEU counts.
