A daily charge for keeping the carrier's container outside the port beyond the free time.

In practice

Runs from when the box leaves the terminal until the empty is returned to the depot. Applies to import (unpacking) and export (from empty pick-up to gate-in). Charged per container per day, often in escalating tiers.
