The deadline for delivering a container or submitting documents so cargo makes a sailing.

In practice

There are several: CY or cargo cut-off (box gated in), SI cut-off (shipping instructions), VGM cut-off, and customs or AMS cut-off. Each is set by the carrier and terminal and may be 24 to 72 hours before ETD.
