Automated Manifest System

A US Customs filing the carrier or NVOCC must make at least 24 hours before loading cargo bound for the USA.

In practice

Part of the 24-hour rule. Requires the actual shipper and consignee, a precise cargo description, and HS codes. Carriers charge an AMS fee per B/L. Late or wrong filings can mean the box is not loaded.

Seen in the wild

AMS fee USD 35 per HBL. Filing deadline is 48 hours before CY cut-off.
